While I think this a great book and well worth buying, I’m finding that I keep having to refer back to the earlier books to remind myself of some of the basics. I promise to make it worth your while. With that caveat, I recommend this book wholeheartedly. Scott Kelby knows how to write and instruct, a great teacher. It is a edition which really makes no difference to learning PS CC most everything applies even after the upgrade. The nicest part of this book is you can skip around to the chapters and information you need. Everything is well layed out and presented in an easy format to read and understand.

Anyway the audience is not the real beginner.

It well explains cheats and techniques to obtain effects and retouches to your pictures but assume that you already know the bases behind them. There is no theory explanations if you want know more of what you are doing. Anyway it is a good book to achieve what is covered by it.
